1. About this service

honne is an anonymous board where users leave feelings they cannot tell anyone. No account is required, and the service is free of charge. It runs on an anonymous identifier issued to each browser.

2. Prohibited conduct

  • Writing anything that identifies a real person.
  • Defaming, insulting or harassing another person.
  • Soliciting contact details, meetings or any commercial transaction.
  • Posting advertisements, spam or external links.
  • Any act that violates applicable law.
  • Interfering with the operation of the service, such as mass posting or unauthorised access.

3. Moderation

We may hide or delete any post that violates these terms, with or without prior notice. Posts reported for containing personal information may be hidden automatically pending review.

4. Your posts

  • Copyright in a post remains with the person who wrote it. To the extent necessary to provide and improve the service, the operator may use posts — displaying, copying and backing them up.
  • A deleted post cannot be restored.

5. Disclaimer

  • The service is provided as is. We do not guarantee its completeness, accuracy or availability.
  • The content of a post is the responsibility of the person who wrote it. We are not liable for damages arising from a post, except in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence on our part.
  • This service does not provide medical, legal or other professional advice. If you feel you are in crisis, physically or mentally, please contact a professional support service.

6. Retention and disclosure of sender information

You can use this service anonymously, but in order to respond to legal procedures such as requests for disclosure of sender information under Japan's Provider Liability Limitation Act, we retain records including the IP address and the time of posting for a limited period (approximately 12 months). Where we receive a request based on law, we may disclose this information. See the Privacy Policy for details.

7. Changes to or suspension of the service

Where we judge it necessary, we may change the content of the service, temporarily suspend new posting, or end the service altogether.

8. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The revised terms take effect when published on this site.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The court having jurisdiction over the location of the operator shall be the exclusive agreed court of first instance for any dispute arising in connection with this service.
